Bunting’s “BU” product is a composite material, consisting of bonded layers of a steel backing and a porous bronze matrix, impregnated and overlaid with PTFE bearing material. The steel backing provides mechanical strength and the bronze inter-layer, impregnated with PTFE, provides a strong mechanical bond for the lining. During normal operation, a thin film from the PTFE lining is transferred to the opposing surface and maintained there throughout the working life of the bearing.

Bunting’s “BU” is available, from stock, in the form of wrapped bearings in both inch and metric sizes. Thrust washers, strip material and non-standard bearing sizes are also available.

Temperature range: -328°F/+536°F
